hi, i'm Areo.

Dear fellow reader,

I hope you enjoy your journey throughout my homepage so far.

You would like to know who I am? Well, I encourage you to listen to my music for first impressions. In addition to them, let's dive a bit deeper.

My name is Alexander Bagdahn and I'm an economic scientist (B.Sc.) and banker from Germany.

Beside this professions leaning towards economics, I have a deep urge to express myself via art.

Thanks to my parents, I connected to musical experiences from an early age on. Both of them are guitarists, which guided me towards this instrument since my first days. I finally got my first guitar when I was four years old and play it ever since. Until today I'm totally in love with the guitar, I even earned my first money teaching it to other pupils during high school.

The urge to connect people via music developed even further when I unintentionally became the music enthusiast and curator for my friends during our first parties. Known as DJLX within my group of closest friends, I began trying to translate songs with the mindset "Which song suits and lifts the vibe even further?". After several years of developing this skills, it wasn't enough for me anymore - and I started making my own music under the artist name lx (you might guess where it is derived from, haha).

After several releases with record labels like "Eyes on You Records", "Deep Sounds", "Chinchilla" and "Your Secret", I arrived at a point where I wanted to take a step further.

I created my project Areo.

"With unique soundscapes within the cosmos of pop and house, Areo translates his playful vision of rhythm and harmonies into his records to uplift, move and surprise the ears of his audience.

In contrast to that, his deeper side experiments in a more downtempo manner, giving substance beyond the actual motif - feel free to see his compositions as sonically moving pictures and immerse yourself into them." is how I'd summarize my vision.

One day I randomly came up with the name Areo and it didn’t get out of my head. At this time, I read a book called „Utilitarianism“ by John Stuart Mill, did some web research and found an article about „Areopagitica“, a short treatise by John Milton from 1644 which is about opposing censorship or in other words about freedom of expression.

That coincidence with „Areo“ was like an eye opener, that’s when I knew that I’d like to stay with this artist name if I ever gonna change it.. and here, we are.
